Mont Choisy BeachAbout Mont Choisy BeachThe Mont Choisy beach is located on the northern side of Mauritius and is just an hour and a half from the airport. Stretching from Trou aux Biches to the Club Med in Pointe aux Canonniers this is Mauritius's longest beach. The beach is characterized by its gentle arch which shows the waters curving as they hit the shores. Like all other Mauritian beaches this beach is also characterized by gentle turquoise colored waters, powdery white shores and a rich marine life that is full of corals and diverse marine life. The entrance to Mont Choisy Beach is guarded by a monument which commemorates the very first manned flight between Mauritius and Reunion Island. The competition dated at September 10, 1933 was during the early days of aviation. It was between a Frenchman named Sutel and a Mauritian named Jean Hily. The record books fail to show who won, however Hily lost his life while attempting the second round during October 4, 1934. The sea level in the beach has risen over the years there is not much space between the casuarinas trees and the snore lines these days. In spite of all that it is still a very beautiful beach with a long coastline. You can easily find a spot of seclusion and enjoy your time at this beach. The beach is also well equipped with restaurants and other water rides. It has toilets and is safe for travelers. This being one of the most easily navigable beaches also happens to be fairly frequented. With plenty of to see up north of Mauritius one can set up base some where near by and experience all these glorious places. One can visit various places by bus or some other form of vehicle. The Mont Choisy Beach also has a lot of hotels in its vicinity. Some of the famous names are Villas Mont Choisy, Casa del Sol, Residence Capri, Trou aux Biches Resort & Spa and Seapoint Beach Bungalows.
